Often described as the jewel in the crown of the Golden Lion Group, Hove Place off Chucrh Road in Hove possesess impressive front and rear smoking areas that were introduced to both combat legislation and to improve the prominence of this unique bar. A sleek and clean décor carries through the pub which leads downstairs through a ‘dining area’ before moving into the main bar.

By far and away the biggest asset of Hove Place are the rear gardens. The ‘Italian’ garden was once part of the nunnery and still has some religious icons on the walls, along with a large conservatory for when the weather is not so kind. The other paved garden enjoys a plethora of traditional planting. Both gardens, and indeed the front patio, are discreetly lit at night and garden heaters enable customers to enjoy drinking outside even when it gets a little cool.

In recent times the pub has established an enviable reputation for the quality of its meals.  Exquisite dishes and pub classics at reasonable prices (currently doing a Buy One Get One Free offer at £8.95!).  Food is served until 8pm most days and booking is advisable, especially on Sundays.
