Hove Place, Hove. The Golden Lion Group

Often described as the jewel in the crown of The Golden Lion Group, Hove Place underwent an extensive makeover in May 2007. Impressive front and rear smoking areas were introduced to both combat legislation and to improve the prominence of this unique bar. A sleek and clean décor carries through the pub which leads downstairs through a ‘dining area’ before moving into the main bar.

By far and away the biggest asset of Hove Place are the rear gardens. The ‘Italian’ garden was once part of the nunnery and still has some religious icons on the walls, along with a large conservatory for when the weather is not so kind. The other paved garden enjoys a plethora of traditional planting. Both gardens, and indeed the front patio, are discreetly lit at night and garden heaters enable customers to enjoy drinking outside even when it gets a little cool.

Lunchtimes are busy with local residents and workers alike enjoying a menu traditional dishes with a Hove Place twist. An extensive list of Daily Special is always available and food is served till 8pm Sunday through to Thursday and 5pm on Friday & Saturday. Sunday lunches are fantastically busy, so book early to avoid disappointment
