DUKE OF YORK
• Famous Watering Hole of a previous British Prime Minister
• Comfortable Bed & Breakfast accommodation
• Excellent Pub Food (Lunch and Dinner)
• Large Beer Garden and terrace
Situated on the "Old" London Road, this house used to be on the main
Brighton to London road until a new bypass relieved this lovely village of
constant traffic. Nowadays, the "Duke" is at the heart of Sayers
Common, an area named after a local hero, one Tom Sayer, a well renowned bare
knuckle fighter!
It has an enviable reputation for high quality, well priced lunches and dinners,
every day. In addition the wide range of real ales is constantly changing in
this true "free house". The letting accommodation, all en-suite, and
with TV and tea & coffee making facilities in every room, is competitively
priced and perfect for those visiting friends/family or down on business. Please
call 01273 832262 to enquire about table or room reservations.
Sayers Common is ideally situated for visitors to the South Downs with many local
places of interest to visit, including Hickstead show jumping ground just a few
minutes up the road. Brighton and Hove are a 10 minute drive away and the historic
County Town of Lewes is just 15 minutes drive through some of the prettiest countryside
in Sussex.
